System Requirements

iPass RoamServer™ Requirements
The iPass RoamServer™ requires installation on a WindowsNT/2000 or UNIX platform. Firewalls or authentication servers can run on this platform concurrently.

iPassConnect™ Client Requirements
iPassConnect™ software is installed on the notebooks or handheld clients of mobile users.

iPass RoamServer™ Requirements

The iPass RoamServer™ requires installation on a WindowsNT/2000 or UNIX platform. Firewalls or authentication servers can run on this platform concurrently. Basic platform requirements include:

- Connectivity to an authentication server
- Accounting server (optional)
- Internet-accessible server

Installation on a Windows NT/2000 Server

- Intermediate system administration skills with administrator privileges
- Intel Pentium II processor or higher
- 15MB temporary disk space
- 10MB permanent disk space
- 2MB memory for service and its threads
- Connectivity to an authentication database
- Zip utility
- Accessible IP address
- Supported platforms: NT Version 4.0 Server, Service Pack 5 or later  (not NT Workstation) or any service level of Windows 2000 Server Family/Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 & 2

Additional Requirements:

- Connectivity to an authentication database
- The TCP/IP protocol is required to support the SSL-encrypted connection from iPass Transaction Centres
- Connectivity to an SMTP mail server to send your certificate (optional)
- Connectivity to an accounting server that allows accounting logs to be written to an alternate location (optional)

Installation on a UNIX Server

- Intermediate system administration skills required (administrator should be familiar with modifying files like /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf, and concepts like RADIUS Shared Secrets); root access required:
- 20MB temporary disk space
- 12MB permanent disk space
- Accessible IP address
- Zip utility
- Supported platforms: Solaris 6, 7, and 8 (SPARC processor); FreeBSD 4.0; Linux RedHat 6.1  (Kernel 2.2.12) and 7.x (Kernel 2.4.x).

iPassConnnect Client Requirements


iPassConnect™ software is installed on the notebooks or handheld clients of mobile users. iPass provides several client software options:

iPassConnect™ for Windows 98 SE/2000 (SP4)/XP

- 100 MB free disk space
- Pentium III Processor
- 128 MB RAM
- Microsoft TCP/IP protocol installed
- 16-bit color mode
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 SP 1 or later
- The Jet database engine
At least one connectivity device installed, depending on your intended connection type:

- A GSM modem for GSM connections
- A 56K v90/92 modem for a dial-up connection
- An Ethernet adapter for a wired broadband connection
- An 802.11b wireless adapter for a wireless broadband connection
- A ISDN terminal adapter for an ISDN connection
- A PHS phone for PHS connections

iPassConnect™ for Mac OS

- iPassConnect for Mac OS X (10.3.x, 10.2.0 to 10.2.8, 9.2, 9.1, 9.04, 8.6)
- 25 MB free disk space
- 128 MB RAM (256 MB recommended)
- Open Transport OT/PPP version 2.6 or later

Any of the following Macintosh computer models:
- Power Mac G3 or G4
- PowerBook G3 or G4

At least one connectivity device installed, depending on your intended connection type:
